Client Overview

Open Eyes is a global nonprofit organization that exists to accelerate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the unreached and under-served. They do this by equipping local leaders and churches with transportation and resources needed to bring about holistic and eternal transformation of lives and communities.

 

Challenge

As the organization grows and matures, they want to foster a culture that values and prioritizes professional integrity, collaborative growth, stewardship, and service. They had an outdated employee handbook that needed an overhaul to 1) reflect their culture, 2) be practical for employees, and 3) be compliant with applicable federal and state labor laws.

 

Solution

In partnership with People Matter Most, Open Eyes embarked on a collaborative journey to develop a new and improved employee handbook.

 

Approach 

1. Conducted a thorough review of the existing employee handbook to identify areas that needed updating or revision.

2. Engaged with Open Eyes leadership to understand the organization's culture, values, and goals for the new handbook.

3. Researched applicable federal and state labor laws to ensure compliance and best practices.

4. Drafted a new employee handbook that incorporated OpenEyes' cultural values, practical guidance for employees, and legal compliance.

5. Facilitated a collaborative review process with Open Eyes leadership to gather feedback and refine the handbook.

6. Finalized the new employee handbook and prepared it for distribution and implementation.

 

Outcome & Impact

The new employee handbook successfully captured Open Eyes' culture of professional integrity, collaborative growth, stewardship, and service. It provided clear and practical guidance to employees while ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws.
